The Epic Adventures of Big Binks.
Aloha to all surfers, parents, grandparents, relatives of surfers, and lovers of the ocean! The Epic Adventures of Big Binks is a surf adventure for big and little groms that seeks to teach the language of surf (and includes a “Surf Lingo for Little Groms” glossary) while exposing children to the idea of embracing new experiences and cultural differences.
About the Authors.
Kate Montero and Christian Kahler are two surfer-teachers who enjoy sharing knowledge during the school-year, then heading to wave-filled locales in the summer months to act like grommets and bask in those vacation rays.During the school-year, Kate is a professor of communication studies at Palm Beach State College. Chris, a West-Australia native, teaches education courses at Palm
Beach State College, and is an elementary school specialist with certifications in reading, special education, ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages), and elementary education (k-5).
About the Illustrator.
Mike Castillo is a friend and fellow surfer, and is a former lifeguard at the local surf-break. He enjoys reading The Epic Adventures of Big Binks to his one-year-old son, Mike Jr.
Epic Layout Designer.
A big special thank you also to Martin Humphrey for his EPIC layout design and additional illustrations! When he’s not the creative director for an online boating magazine, Martin is also a freelance designer, and lends his graphic stylings and epic layout design to this tale.
